The Indian Army is closely monitoring the Israel-Hamas conflict, seeking to derive valuable insights that can bolster India’s defense strategies, according to a report citing defense sources. Particular attention is being given to the use of powered gliders by Hamas militants as an innovative tactic to infiltrate Israeli territory.

The deployment of power gliders during the initial stages of the conflict on October 7 has raised concerns within the Indian security establishment. This study aims to swiftly discern and adapt lessons from the Israel-Hamas conflict that are relevant to India’s security context.

The use of power gliders has significantly heightened the element of surprise in Hamas’s attacks, allowing militants to bypass physical barriers on the ground and infiltrate Israeli territory with relative ease. India has been grappling with various forms of terrorism, including cross-border threats from Pakistan, for decades. As such, Indian security agencies continually strive to thwart terrorist infiltration, keeping pace with the unconventional methods often employed by these groups.

In this context, the Israeli-Hamas war is being closely examined by Indian security experts, who are keen to adapt the lessons learned to their own security operations.

Furthermore, Hamas has employed cost-effective drones in the ongoing conflict as a means to counter expensive, conventional military weaponry. In one notable instance, a drone was captured on video dropping a bomb on an Israeli Merkava tank, resulting in its destruction. These tanks are highly armored on all sides but relatively vulnerable from above. This tactic demonstrates the importance of adapting to evolving threats and technology, a concept that Indian security forces are actively exploring.
