New Delhi: India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has recently revealed a plan for advancing the National Green Hydrogen Mission through research and development (R&D) initiatives. They have allocated an amount of Rs 400 crore to establish a research ecosystem focused on accelerating the commercialization of hydrogen.
The roadmap places emphasis on developing materials, technologies and infrastructure that are essential for enhancing the efficiency, reliability and cost-effectiveness of green hydrogen production, storage and transportation.
This important announcement was made during an event jointly organized by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy and the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited to commemorate World Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day. In a video message, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy R. K. Singh highlighted the government’s commitment to researching, developing and deploying hydrogen solutions. He emphasized the role of hydrogen in shaping a future for our planet.
Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, who serves as the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, emphasized focusing on “mission mode projects” that can yield results within 2 3 years using the allocated R&D budget of Rs 400 crore.
