New Delhi: India reported 62,224 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. This took the cumulative count of infections to 2,95,52,271, stated the Union Health Ministry. The recovery rate at 95.80 percent accounted for 1,07,628 recoveries in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 2,83,88100.
The daily positivity rate further dropped to 3.22 per cent. It is for the ninth straight day that India is seeing a positivity rate below 5 per cent.
The number of active cases has reduced to 8,65,432 accounting for 2.92 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 4,7946 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.28 per cent reported 2,542 deaths, taking the cumulative death toll to 3,79,573.
The Union Health Ministry on Tuesday said anyone over the age of 18 can walk in to the nearest vaccination centre to get registered on the CoWIN digital platform and be inoculated against coronavirus.
ICMR reported testing of 19,30,987 infected samples in a single day. So far, ICMR has tested 38,33,06,971 infected samples. As per MoHFW, 28,00,458 vaccines were administered in the past 24 hours. So far, 26,19,72,014 citizens have been shielded against the novel virus under the national immunization drive.
