New Delhi: India recorded 5,233 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. Daily coronavirus infections in India crossed 5,000 after 93 days where Maharashtra led the surge recording 1,881 new coronavirus cases last evening, a huge 81 per cent jump and the highest since February 18.The state also reported one case of B.A.5 variant, the state health department said.
The recovery rate at 98.72 per cent accounted for 3,345 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 4,26,36,710. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.67 per cent. The number of active cases stood at 28,857 accounting for 0.07 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported an increase by 1,881 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate stood at 1.21 per cent recorded 7 virus related deaths taking the cumulative death toll to 5,24,715.
With the administration of 14.94 lakh vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 194.43 crore according to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
