New Delhi: India’s daily new COVID-19 cases reported a decline on Saturday as the country records 12,082 cases less than Friday. Down from yesterday’s 1.32 lakh cases, India today reported 1.20 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the country’s infection tally to 2,85,73,503 according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Saturday.
With a recovery rate of 93.38 percent, 1,97,894 individuals recuperated in the last 24 hours taking the recuperated count to 2,67,95,549.
The number of active cases has reduced to 15,55248 accounting for 5.42 percent of the total number of cases. The active cases records a decline of 80,745 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.2 percent reported 3380 deaths, taking the overall death toll to 3,44,082. The Health Ministry has stated that 377 districts have been reporting less than 5 per cent case positivity currently.
Member Health NITI Aayog Dr VK Paul on Friday said India has overtaken the United States in terms of the number of people who have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
As per MoHFW, 36,50,080 individuals were shielded from the novel virus in the past 24 hours. With this count, the country’s total vaccine administrations rose to 22,78,60,317 since the initiation of the national inoculation drive.
