India recorded lowest cases in the past 214 days;18,166 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry reported.

The recovery rate at 97.99 per cent, highest since March 2020, accounted for 23,624  recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,32,71,915. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.42  per cent, less than 3 per cent since the past 41 days.

The active caseload stands at 2,30,971 accounting for 0.68 per cent of the total number of cases. 5,672 active cases were reported in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported 214 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,50,589.

As the festival spree begins in India, the Union government has advised states and union territories to adhere Corona protocols while celebrating festivals. “Covid-19 containment can derail if festivals are not celebrated following protocols”, said Union Health minister Mansukh Mandaviya while reviewing the vaccination progress in the nation.

Some states and UTs have now issued fresh Covid-19 guidelines for the celebration of festivals and reimposed Covid-19 restrictions to check the spread of virus.
