India recorded 9,195 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry reported.


The recovery rate at 98.40 per cent accounted for, highest since March 2020, for 7,347  recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,42,51,292. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.22  per cent, lowest since March 2020.


The active caseload stands at 77,002 accounting for 0.22 per cent of the total number of cases. 1,546 active cases were reported in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.38 per cent reported 302 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,80,592.

The total count of Omnicron; highly transmissible corona variant has reached 781 in India today. Spread across 21 states of India, Delhi has the highest Omnicron count with 238 cases, followed by Maharashtra.

The government is continuously speeding the vaccination drive across the nation as over 143 crore vaccine doses have been administered in India. Thus making it a significant milestone to fight against COVID-19.
