New Delhi: India recorded 42,892 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry reported. The recovery rate at 92.73 percent accounted for 41,726 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,09,74,748. The daily positivity rate at 2.58 per cent; less than 3 per cent for the last 10 days.
The active caseload stands at 4,11,076 accounting for 1.29 per cent of the total number of cases. 723 active cases were reported in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.34 per cent reported 533 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,26,290.
Kerala which has emerged as the new hotspot registered 7,092 active infections in the past 24 hours, this took the total active tally to 1,73,736. Moreover, the state health bulletin observed 148 deaths in a single day.
North-eastern states continue to observe an ascending COVID Curve, with Mizoram leading the group.
WHO addressed a press conference on Wednesday, called for a moratorium of COVID-19 booster jabs until September end to facilitate distribution to economically backward nations. WHO chief urged the G20 nations to change the course of vaccine distribution to attain at least 10% vaccination of the entire population of every country.
