India recorded 38,353 fresh cases in the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry reported. The recovery rate at 97.45 percent accounted for 40,013 cases in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,12,20,981. The daily positivity rate at 2.16 per cent; less than 3 per cent for the last 16 days.
The active caseload stands at 3,86,351 accounting for 1.21 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline by 2157 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.34 per cent reported 497 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,29,179.
The Union Health ministry expressed fear over the rising R value in the country. As per the current statistics, it was observed that the ‘R’ value breached the 1.0 mark last month. Punjab and Himachal Pradesh have an effective ‘R’ value of 1.3, while Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh have ‘R’ values of 1.1 and 1.0 respectively, reported centre. A rise in the daily infections is expected to spike the R value further.
Under the national vaccination drive, 41.38 lakh beneficiaries were immunized in the last 24 hours. So far 51.90 crore citizens have been vaccinated.
