India Records 38,079 Fresh Infection; PM Modi Stresses on ‘Test,Track, Treat and Teeka system’ to Contain the Spread

New Delhi: India recorded 38,079 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry reported.The recovery rate at 97.31 percent accounted for 43,916 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,02,27,792. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.91 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 26 consecutive days.

The active caseload stands at 4,24,025 accounting for 1.36 per cent of the total number of cases. 6397 active cases were reported in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported 560 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,13,091. 

PM Modi in his virtual conferencing with the CM’s of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Odisha, Kerala and Maharashtra – which have contributed 80 per cent of new cases and 84 percent of deaths in the past week stressed the ‘test, track, treat and teeka (vaccinate)’ system to contain the virus.

The next 100-125 days are critical in the fight against COVID-19, the government said on Friday. Studying the current statistics, Dr. Samiran Panda, Head of epidemiology and Infectious Diseases at ICMR, predicts the third wave would hit the country at the end of August.
