New Delhi: India recorded 1,549 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, taking the tally to 4,30,09,390. The recovery rate at 98.74 per cent accounted for 2,652 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 4,24,67,774. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.40 per cent.
The number of active cases stood at 25,106 accounting for 0.16 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a drop of 1,134 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate stood at 1.20 per cent recorded 31 fatalities taking the cumulative death toll to 5,16,510.
With the administration of 2.97 lakh vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 181.24 crore according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The National technical Group on Immunization has on Sunday reduced the gap between the doses of Covishield from 16 weeks to eight weeks. The latest recommendation was based on the recent global scientific evidence derived from assorted data.
According to the health ministry, more than 183.52 crore (1,83,52,25,060) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Govt. of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category. Around 17.21 Cr (17,21,00,256) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs, it added.
