Toronto: The poster for the protest rally in Toronto names Indian high commissioner Saurav Kumar Sharma and counselor Apurva Srivastava. India has now asked Canada to urgently act against the so-called Khalistan extremists who are planning to take out a protest march to Indian embassies in Toronto and Vancouver after deliberately trying to blame Indian diplomats and security agencies for killing Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
Nijjar, the 45-year-old Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) chief was killed in inter-gang warfare on June 19 in Sikh-dominated Surrey town in Vancouver. As per the poster, a Khalistan Freedom Rally will be held on July 8 at 12:30 PM, starting from Great Punjab Business Centre and will end at Indian Embassy at Toronto. The poster carries a threat to officials in Canada.
External Affairs Minister of India, Dr. S Jaishankar also responded to the matter of names of Indian diplomats on Khalistani posters in Canada. “We have requested our partner countries like Canada, the United States, the UK, and Australia not to give space to the Khalistanis. This will affect our relations. We will raise this poster issue with the government of these countries”, said the minister.
