India has also remained in its humanitarian aid to Sri Lanka following Cyclone Ditwah, whereby the Assistant High Commission (AHC) has been actively involved in helping communities in need. This was as part of outreach efforts that India has been making as part of Operation Sagar Bandhu, with 86 families affected by the cyclone receiving dry ration packets at the Dickwella Estate in the Badulla district.
In disclosing information on X, the Assistant High Commission told that the relief work was headed by AHC Saranya VS and that it was done under the watch of the local leaders and officials. During the distribution, members of Parliament Kitnan Selvaraj and Ambika Samuel were present as well as the representatives of the estate management and the local authorities. The AHC renewed its commitment to support Sri Lanka and the people of this country in the reconstruction of their lives after the natural catastrophe.
Simultaneously, Sri Lankan Army on its part has also praised the medical relief efforts of India after Cyclone Ditwah at the highest level. On December 14, 2025, the humanitarian services of the Indian Army 60 Parachute field hospital were thumped in an official ceremony of the Army Cantonment in Panagoda. The Sri Lankan Army acclaimed the mission with an excellent humanitarian contribution and professionalism.
The Indian Army Medical Services (IAMS) under the supervision of Lieutenant Colonel Jagneet Gill, was put on duty in Mahiyanganaya, under the Uva Province of Sri Lanka, with an 85-member medical team between 2 and 12 December 2025 to provide services in the affected cyclone-prone area. The team assisted over 7,000 civilians in this time, who were victims of the cyclone, with a wide range of medical, surgical, and dental services.
The Indian medical staff provided essential health services to the populations in need of medical attention (injuries, risk of diseases, and poor access to healthcare centers) working in harsh field conditions. These rapid reactions and continuity were important in the mitigation of post-disaster pain.
