Union Minister of Communications and Development of North-East Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya M. Scindia announced on Friday that India post will launch guarantee-based 24-hour and 48-hour Speed post starting January 2026. The project will greatly improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the postal system, which offers quicker delivery services on personal as well as business mail.
In a press conference in New Delhi to demonstrate 1 year of achievements across the ministries and departments he heads, Scindia announced that, there will be a 24 hour Speed Post service of delivering mails within 24 hours, and a 48 hour Speed Post of delivering within 48 hours… Through this we are changing the meaning of Speed Post.
The services will be included in the expansion of the offerings of India Post. According to Scindia, the postal department would introduce eight new products in the next year in its mail, parcel, and international segments. They will consist of next-day parcel delivery, parcel last-mile offerings, end-to-end parcel offerings as well as recently monitored international mail, which will meet the rising demands of quicker, dependable and trackable delivery solutions in the nation.
Citing the performance of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Scindia also reported that the country had moved against the 60 th position and was ranked 49 th on the Network Readiness Index 2024. Besides, India has become a Tier-1 country in the Global Cybersecurity Index with a score of 98.49 out of 100, which indicates considerable advancement in the country in the realm of the digital infrastructure and the level of cybersecurity readiness.
These new Speed Post services together with new products and robust digital programs will help the modernization of the operations of India Post which will provide customers with faster delivery, better tracking and reliability, and improve the leadership of India in postal and digital services across the world.
