New Delhi: India reported 35,662 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 97.65 per cent accounted for 33,798 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,26,32,222. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.46 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 19 consecutive days.
The number of active cases stood at 3,40,639 accounting for 1.02 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a rise of 1583 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 281 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,44,529.
On the occasion of PM Modi’s birthday on Friday, India achieved another milestone in vaccinations setting a new world record vaccinating 2.50 crore beneficiaries. As per the on-ground officers, 466 vaccinations were administered per second. Taking to Twitter Union Minister tweeted praising India’s achievement on PM’s birthday. His tweet stated that the total county achieved on Friday was ‘equal to the total population of Australia’. Earlier in June, China had inoculated 2.47 crore beneficiaries setting the first world record.
During the mega campaign across the nations, Karnataka reportedly administered the highest number of vaccines of 26.92 lakhs until 9 pm on Friday. Taking to his official Twitter handle, PM Modi dedicated the achievement to the healthcare workers, administrators, nurses and all front line workers of the nation. His tweet read- Every Indian would be proud of today’s record vaccination numbers. I acknowledge our doctors, innovators, administrators, nurses, healthcare and all front-line workers who have toiled to make the vaccination drive a success. Let us keep boosting vaccination to defeat COVID-19,”
India’s cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination coverage crossed 79.33 crores by midnight according to the data on the CoWIN portal.
