New Delhi: India records 3,877 COVID-19 related deaths on Wednesday, raising the total number of fatalities to 2,87,156. The Union Health Ministry confirmed 2,76,193 new infections across the country in the past 24 hours, meaning so far 2.76 crore people have contracted the disease. Of the total number of cases, 31,25,056 remain active and 3,69,005 recuperated.

Cyclone that hit Maharashtra and Gujarat recorded 34,031 and 5,246 respectively. Both the state administration is accessing the after-effects of the storm and are updating their health systems. 

 After Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh have the highest number of infections. Tamil Nadu health bulletin recorded 34,875 fresh cases, while UP logged 7,186 infections. Karnataka logged 34,281 fresh infections, spiking the tally to 23,06,655; the mortalities of the state reached 23,306 after it witnessed 468 more fatalities. The National capital reported 3,846 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, the lowest since April 5. 235 COVID-linked deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours. 

 Rajasthan and Telangana notified mucormycosis as an epidemic. Rajasthan is treating 100 black fungus patients in its Black fungus special ward at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur. 

  Over 20.55 lakh samples were tested for the infection in the last 24 hours, accounting for the highest single-day tests so far. The Union Health Ministry approved Rapid Antigen Kits to conduct COVID tests at home. The Indian Council of Medical Research has issued detailed guidelines on its use.
