New Delhi: India recorded 1,27,952 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 95.64 per cent accounted 2,30,814 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 4,02,47,902. The daily positivity rate stood at 7.98 per cent.
The number of active cases stood at 13,31,648 accounting for 3.16 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a drop by 1,03,921 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate stood at 1.19 per cent reported spike in deaths recording 1059 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 5,01,114.
Worst hit state Maharashtra reported 13,840 new cases during the last 24 hours. State health minister Rajesh Tope has said the number of cases had begun declining state-wide and predicted that the third wave of the pandemic might get over by the second or third week of March. Meanwhile, the national capital in the last 24 hours logged 2,272 fresh infections with the COVID infectivity rates at 3.85 per cent. The city saw easing of restrictions as a dip in cases was recorded.
The health bulletin documented 168.98 crore cumulative vaccinations under the nationwide vaccination drive, including 47.53 lakh administrations in the past 24 hours.
