New Delhi: India recorded 19,968 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 98.28 per cent accounted for 48,847 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 4,20,86,383. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.68 per cent. The number of active cases stood at 2,24,187 accounting for 0.52 per cent of the total number of cases.
The active cases reported a drop of 29,552 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate stood at 1.20 per cent recorded 673 fatalities taking the cumulative death toll to 5,11,903.
Among states reporting high number of cases, Kerala reported 6,757 new cases while Karnataka saw a further decline in new infections with 1,137 new cases. Bengaluru accounted for 646 of the new infections in Karnataka. Maharashtra, worst hit state reported 1,635 new cases in the last 24 hours..
With the administration 30.81 lakh (30,81,336) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 175.37 cr (1,75, 37,22,697) according to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. More than 172.21 crore vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Govt. of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category, the ministry of health reported. More than 11.16 Cr balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered, it added.
