New Delhi: In the wake of speculations regarding the 3rd wave of the deadly coronavirus, India sees relief as the positivity rate keeps declining. It has lowered to an extent where the World Health Organization (WHO) has described it to be in the “safe zone”. But the worry is not over yet as almost 45 delta variants have been reported in Maharashtra alone which is thought to be a very powerful variant.

The good news is that people are being vaccinated at large and almost 16 lakh people have been vaccinated in the last 24 hours which takes the total dosage count to almost 51 crores since the inoculation of the vaccination from January 16 this year.

While the vaccination rate has increased, the infection rate has decreased subsequently. In the last 24 hours, approximately 450 deaths have been reported which is very low as compared to what it was a few months back. The total infections reported in the last 24 hours touched the mark of almost 35,500 which is lower than the last day’s mark of almost 39,000.

While Covishield and covaxin have already been used extensively in the country to vaccinate the country’s people, Russia’s vaccine sputnik-V and Moderna have also got clearance from the centre for emergency usage. Apart from that, Novavax, a US-based vaccine, has also partnered with India’s serum institute to make and produce the vaccine after getting clearance from the centre. The government aims to vaccinate a major portion of the pollution by the end of the year.
