New Delhi: India crossed the 34-lakh flag post logging 3,68,147 new infections amidst the second wave. The Ministry of Health and Welfare reported 3,417 COVID morbidities taking the toll to 2,18,959 since the outbreak.
The apex court last night reiterated its orders against the Centre to revamp oxygen deficiency across the hospitals. On Sunday the SC said,” We would seriously urge the Central and State governments to consider imposing a ban on mass gatherings and super spreader events. They may also consider imposing a lockdown to curb the virus in the second wave in the interest of public welfare.“

Meanwhile, Mumbai, the city of the worst-hit state of the nation reported a drop in its single-day count after 5 weeks. Only 2,624 new cases were logged in the financial capital. Maharashtra on the whole reported a drop in its count by 50,000 after almost a month. Only 48,621 cases were recorded taking the tally to 47,71,022. On the contrary, Delhi reported the highest mortality rate for the third day consecutively. Nearly 448 deaths took the mortality toll to 18,043 since the outbreak. West Bengal reported 17,501 fresh COVID cases and 98 deaths in 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Delhi CM Kejriwal in a review meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia targeted strengthening the home isolation system for COVID patients across the state.
