NEW DELHI: Eversince the Indian govt in 1985 declared the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda as the National Youth Day India, the country honor and recognize Vivekananda’s teachings.
This year, the National Youth Day 2023 theme is “Viksit Yuva-Viksit Bharat.” This day is celebrated to promote awareness of people’s rights and to provide information about them. The main motive is to keep the teachings of the great leader alive. A number of programs are conducted across the nation on National Youth Day (Rashtriya Yuva Diwas), including speeches, music, youth conventions, seminars, yoga asanas, presentations, essay writing, recitation competitions, and sports competitions.
He was born on January 12, 1863, in Kolkata and died on July 4, 1902. His father’s name was Vishwanath Dutta and mother’s name was Bhuvaneshwari Devi. He became a disciple of Saint Ramakrishna Paramhamsa after being introduced to him by one of his English professors in 1881 at Dakshineshwar’s Kali Temple. The Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga were introduced to the Western World by him.
Remembering the iconic spiritual figure, the Prime Minister paying homeage said -“His (Vivekananda’s) life, patriotism, spiritualism and dedication will always inspire,” PM Modi wrote on Twitter.
President Droupadi Murmu also paid tributes to Vivekananda on his birth anniversary.
To mark the special occasion, many celebrities took to social media to voice their opinions on how the youth of the country play a significant role. Many came out to mark the occasion either by showing their respects to the philosopher or reminiscing about their good old days.
Other actors from the Indian television industry such as Anita Pradhan, Kamna Pathak and Vidisha Srivastava honoured some young talents in their fields for their contributions.
