India’s National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval and diplomat Wang Yi had discussions during the Friends of BRICS meeting, in South Africa on Monday as confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs. During their meeting NSA Doval expressed his concerns about the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Western Sector of India China boundary since 2020. He emphasized that this situation has undermined trust and the foundation of their relationship.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, NSA Doval highlighted the importance of efforts to resolve the situation fully and restore peace and tranquility in the border areas. He aimed to remove any obstacles hindering normalcy in their relations. Both sides acknowledged that a strong India-China bilateral relationship is significant not for their countries but for the broader region and the world.
This meeting followed a discussion between External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Wang Yi, in Jakarta, Indonesia. During that discussion, they addressed issues related to peace and tranquility in the border areas. The diplomatic challenge posed by the standoff, between India and China has persisted for more than three years according to Jaishankars description.
Wang Yi emphasized Chinas commitment to avoiding hegemony. Expressed willingness to work together with developing nations, including India. The aim is to promote multilateralism and foster a balanced development of the global order. Earlier on the day Ajit Doval stressed the need for efforts in addressing cybersecurity challenges during the Friends of BRICS meeting. Moreover he engaged in one on one discussions with counterparts from BRICS countries well as the Friends of BRICS group.
Month South Africa will host the BRICS Summit where leaders, from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa will come together to discuss critical global issues and strengthen collaboration among these emerging economies.
