INDIA: The Government of India again came up with a latest decision to ban 47 Chinese apps. This move comes nearly after banning 59 apps like TikTok, share-it in the month of June.
The list of particular apps banned in the fresh decision is yet to be announced. The government of India banned these apps to “protect national interest and security.” The official announcement would take place shortly.
Earlier, the government banned apps including TikTok, UC browser, CamScanner and others under the provisions of Section 69A of the Information Technology Act.
A PTI report, citing government sources, said that the government had also prepared a list of over 250 apps that would be examined for any user privacy or national security violations.
It is believed that the government is closely scrutinising other apps that have chinese bearings. This includes top gaming app PUBG( by Chinese Internet giant Tencent) and AliExpress(by Alibaba Group)
The government also directed Apple and Google to remove the banned apps from their respective app stores in the country.
