New Delhi: India recorded 18,454 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, Union Ministry reported. The recovery rate at 98.15 per cent accounted for 17, 561 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,34,95,808. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.48 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 52 consecutive days. The number of active cases stood at 1,78,831 accounting for 0.52 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a rise by of 733 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 160 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,52,811.

India scripted history administering its one billionth COVIR Shot. PM Narendra Modi on Thursday visited Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital in the national capital as the number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in India crossed the 100 crore mark. India successfully struck the record at 9:47 am today morning as per the registrations on CoWIN portal.

As per the govt data, around three-quarters of adults in the country of 1.3 billion people have had one shot and around 30 percent are fully vaccinated. Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted the achievement writing, “ Congratulations India! This is the result of the leadership of our visionary Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

Dr VK Paul, the NITI Aayog Member for Health, congratulated the people and health care workers of India on this landmark achieved . “It’s remarkable to reach the 1 billion dose mark for any nation, an achievement in just over 9 months since the vaccination program started in India,” he said. However, he pointed out need for consistency.

So far only China has managed to register one billion doses to its population of more than a billion.
