New Delhi: India set a new record breaching its death toll observing 4,529 COVID linked deaths. The Union Health Ministry reported 2,67,246 new infections across the country. The confirmed cases dropped below the 3-lakh mark first on April 21 and since then India continues to record a dip in its infective counts.
As per the health bulletin release, the country has a total of 32,21,822 active cases, while 3,89,722 recoveries were documented.
The MoHFW reported 13.31% as the current positivity rate of the country, while ICMR tested 20,08,296 infected samples in the last 24 hours.
The Centre on Tuesday stated only 1.8 % of the country’s population has contracted the virus so far. “Despite the high number of cases reported so far, we have been able to contain the spread to under 2 percent of the population. We can’t let our guards down, “quoted a spokesperson.
Several states strive to make up for the vaccination shortages. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday assured: “Vaccination is an effective means of fight Covid and we should together remove all misgivings about it. We are making relentless efforts to increase the supply.” In the meanwhile, Serum Institute promised to ramp up vaccine production.
