New Delhi: The Union Health Department today successfully reached its 2 crore vaccination target for the first time as the centre aimed to set a record on PM Modi’s 71st birthday. On this remarkable achievement, Union Health Minister Manukh Mandaviya took to his Twitter account embracing the success. His tweet in Hindi said, “A gift to the Prime Minister on behalf of the health workers and the countrymen. Today, on the birthday of @NarendraModi, India has crossed the historical figure of 2 crore vaccines in a day, setting a new record. Well done India!” Mandaviya cites the landmark achievement as a major push to the COVID-19 vaccination drive.
As per the information given in by the authorities on the ground, the vaccination count reached one crore by the afternoon, following which BJP officials flooded Twitter urging more citizens to get their jabs. A government official reported that the vaccination centre’s clocked 42,000 vaccinations in a minute on Friday. According to Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, this was the fastest pace at which one crore doses have been administered.
The vaccination camp is one of the major events of the BJP’s three-week celebration to mark PM Modi’s 20 public years of service.
India achieved its first milestone of 10-crore vaccinations within 85 days of commencing the vaccination program, after which within 45 more days’ 20-crore beneficiaries were immunized. In another 29 days, 30 crore citizens were successfully vaccinated. On August 6th, 50 crore vaccinations were administered.
