New Delhi: India recorded 4,362 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The last time India’s daily new cases fell below 5,000 was on 16 May 2020, when 4,864 new cases were reported nationwide.

The recovery rate at 98.68 per cent accounted for 9,620 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 4,23,98,095. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.71 per cent. The number of active cases stood at 54,118 accounting for 0.13 per cent of the total number of cases.

The active cases reported a drop of 5,324 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate stood at 1.20 per cent recorded 66 fatalities taking the cumulative death toll to 5,15,102.

With the administration of 4.80 lakh vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 178.90 crore according to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

According to the health ministry, more than 179.78 crore (1,79,78,94,320) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Govt. of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category. Around 15.58 Cr (15,58,42,276) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs, it added.
