New Delhi: India recorded 2,527 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. India’s total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,30,52,425. The number of active cases stood at 15,079 accounting for 0.04 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a rise of 838 in the last 24 hours.
The recovery rate at 98.75 per cent accounted for 1,656 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 4,25,17,724. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.56 per cent. However, the mortality rate stood at 1.21 per cent recorded 33 fatalities taking the cumulative death toll to 5,22,149.
With the administration of 19.13 lakh vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 187.46 crore according to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
People in Delhi must wear mask in public places, the state government said on Friday. Those found violating the rule amid rising COVID-19 cases will be fined Rs 500, it said. Those travelling in private cars, however, do not need to wear mask. In neighbouring Noida, over 100 people were fined for not wearing mask in public places. The Kejriwal government is paying particular attention to schools, as reports of children getting affected emerge. Students and staff should not be allowed to enter schools without thermal scanning, the Delhi government said in a set of COVID-19 guidelines issued for schools.
