New Delhi: India recorded 2,364 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of infections to 4,31,29,563. The recovery rate at 98.75 per cent accounted for 2,582 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 4,25,89,841. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.50 per cent.
The number of active cases stood at 15,419 accounting for 0.04 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a drop of 228 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate stood at 1.22 per cent recorded only 10 fatalities taking the cumulative death toll to 5,24,303.
With the administration of more than 13.71 lakh vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 191.79 cr according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The COVID-19vaccination for the age group 12-14 years began on 16 March 2022 and has shielded more than 3.22 Cr (3,22,66,248) adolescents with their first dose. Nearly 4,90,442 between 18-44 years have received their precautionary dose.
Speaking at the ministerial meeting on Global Food Security Call to Action chaired by US Sec of State Antony Blinken, India called out the west said that food grains should not go the way of the COVID-19 vaccines as it voiced its concerns over hoarding, discrimination and unjustified increase in food prices that pose a threat to food security of many unvenerable countries amidst the Ukraine war.
