NEW DELHI: India on Friday reported 228 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours. According to the Union Health Ministry, the active cases declined to 2,503 taking the cumulative tally to 4.46 crore (4,46,79,547). A decline of 51 cases is witnessed as per the data updated on Friday. The daily positivity rate stood at 0.11 percent while the weekly positivity rate is pegged at 0.12 percent.

The active cases comprise 0.01 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.80 percent, the ministry said. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,41,46,330.

The death toll surged by 4 cases including two reconciled by Kerala while one death each was reported from Bihar and UttarakhandThe case fatality rate stood at 1.19 percent. At present, the death toll stands at 5,30,714.

220.12 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
