NEW DELHI: India saw a single-day rise of 197 new coronavirus infections with active cases declining to 2,309, the Union Health Ministry said on Thursday. A decrease of 33 cases accounting for 0.01 percent has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours as per the updated data.
The cumulative tally of infections stood at 4,46,80,583. The recovery rate stood at 98.80 percent. 4,41,47,551recuperations have been recorded so far. The fatality rate stood at 1.19 percent. With one reconciled death from Kerala, the death toll raised to 5,30,723.
In the past 24 hours, 61,680 beneficiaries were immunized. So far, 2,20,15,76,369 have been immunized under the nationwide vaccination drive.
So far 200 air passengers were found to be COVID-positive with the BF.7 variant during the random sampling at the airports. So far more than 15 lakh air passengers were screened for COVID-19.
Upcoming central government guidelines on Covid treatment will cap steroid dosage for admitted patients with hypoxia (low oxygen levels or breathlessness), health ministry sources said on Wednesday. The revised guidelines will fix the daily lower dose of methylprednisolone injection at 32mg or 40mg of prednisolone or an equivalent daily dose of dexamethasone (6mg), irrespective of a patient’s body weight. The guidelines are being drafted and will be released soon, a ministry official said.
