New Delhi: India reported 54,069 cases in the past 24 hours. Since the outbreak in January 2020, the total infections reached to 2,98,29,516 cases
The recovery rate at 96.61 percent accounted for 68,885 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 2,90,63,740. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.91%, less than 5% for 17 consecutive days.
The number of active cases has reduced to 6,27,057 accounting for 2.08 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 16,137 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.30 per cent reported 1,321 deaths, taking the cumulative death toll to 3,91,981.
After sequencing more than 3500 samples from Maharashtra collected in the months of April, May, June, Dr Anurag Agarwal, Director of the Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), reported that Delta Plus Variant constituted less than one per cent of the affected crowd.
Bharat Biotech, which produces COVAXIN, is looking at vaccinating children from 2 years to 18 years and a number of children have already been vaccinated, Dr Randeep Guleria, Director of the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi said.
