As per IMD for the 13th of September, there has been a severe rain warning with a red alert for the state of Uttarakhand. These are words of caution given that a low-pressure system over neighbouring Bangladesh is forecast to produce heavy rains over the northeastern states of India. Moreover, an orange alert has also been given for other states like Odisha, Mizoram, Nagaland, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Manipur, and Tripura, suggesting that there may be unfavourable weather today.
The IMD has also predicted that depression will form in Madhya Pradesh and the states in its vicinity, indicating that the effects of this type of weather will be realised in the next nine hours. A recent update posted on X (previously tweeting under Twitter) revealed, “The depression formed over central Uttar Pradesh has been rather sluggish and was located accurately at 2330 hrs IST on 12-September-2013 nearly 40 km WSW of Shahjahanpur, up and about 70 Km WNW of Hardoi; it is forecasted to remain active in the northeast course but would progressively weaken into a properly marked low-pressure.”
In Delhi, the region has received good rainfall in the past few days, and the weather forecasts suggest that there will be a continuation of rainfall over the next few days. According to the IMD, light to moderate rainfall can be expected in the national capital today, along with mostly cloudy and possible thunderstorms. It is expected to be bright with very little chance of rainfall, and the temperature is expected to be between 21 and 31 degrees Celsius.
Furthermore, the IMD has predicted that moderate-intensity down pouring will occur in West Uttar Pradesh and in the hill state Uttarakhand, quite severe rainfall is expected to occur in East Uttar Pradesh from September 13 up to September 17. People living in these areas should, therefore, be very cautious and make the necessary preparations as the torrential rains and other destructive natural weather patterns continue to prevail.
