The night combat exercise conducted by the Indian Air Force (IAF) at the Ganga Expressway dedicated airstrip located in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh showed complete success on Friday evening. The Indian military performed its largest combat drill to date under night conditions at an expressway airstrip facility in India’s territory.
Between 7 PM and 10 PM, the exercise included various front-line IAF jets, including the Rafale and Sukhoi Su-30 MKI and Jaguar and Mirage-2000, and M-32 aircraft. During the drill, the jets executed operational flight maneuvers that included precise landing and tactical take-off sequences with coordinated battlefield operations. This operation evaluated the IAF’s capacity to perform operations during low-light and harsh weather conditions while presenting India’s developing abilities in strategic and operational readiness.
SP Rajesh Dwivedi announced to the media that the operation achieved its entirety during one night, when it had been scheduled as a two-day exercise despite strong winds and unfavorable weather conditions. The 3.5-kilometre airstrip received 250 CCTV cameras throughout its surface for improved monitoring and operational defense operations.
The exercise showcased an uncommon technique when fighter jets made aerial landings by using ropes deployed from helicopters before executing rapid tactical deployments on the ground. Section 17 of the exercise showcased the Indian Air Force’s prompt emergency reaction abilities when countering wartime conditions.
Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Arvind Kumar declared the occasion as the beginning of a new historic chapter for the district. Support personnel, together with 1,000 sanitation workers, secured and cleared the 40-kilometer airstrip route. During the exercise, which lasted three hours, traffic on the Bareilly–Etawah route was completely stopped as nearby field residents observed air force jet operations.
India achieved a major advancement in its defense readiness, along with air transportation, after completing this successful exercise.
