Chamrajnagar: Indian Airforce trainer aircraft crashed near Sappayyanapalya village in Karnataka today. The crash occurred 9 kilometers from the Chamrajnagar district headquarters when the aircraft was on a routine sortie.
Confirming the crash, IAF tweeted, “A kiran trainer aircraft of the IAF crashed near Chamrajnagar, Karnataka today, while on a routine sortie. Both aircrew ejected safely. A court of Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident”.
The locals were the first to witness the crash and report to the nearest police station. As the news spread, locals gathered in huge numbers at the crash site to help police in the rescue operation.
Both the pilots, identified as Tejpal and Bhumika are reported to be safe as they ejected before the aircraft crashed. A court of inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident. According to the Chamrajnagar administration, the debris from the incident site has been recovered by an IAF team.
