New Delhi: I urge you to restore the services for 2-3 hours and win the hearts of the govt as it is a mutual process, said DG Health Services Safdarjung Hospital Dr Sunil Kumar as the resident doctors in Safdarjung staged agitation halting all services including emergency attention. He further requested the doctors to give authorities time as the matter is under discussion with the SC.
On the same note, several doctors in govt and Healthcare infrastructures across Maharashtra decided to withdraw services in OPDs as a part of nationwide strike. They have been protesting since November 27 in response to workload being shared by two batches of resident doctors instead of three.
Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) released a statement that stated the doctors were exhausted and overburdened by the repeated delays and postponements of the counselling process. A press release read-
The protest stems from the delayed NEET-PG counselling after the exams were held in September after much of rescheduling . Subsequently, a petition was submitted with the SC questioning the validity of the implementation of EWS and OBC quotas. Doctors demand the completion of counselling process in view of the looming third wave of the pandemic, failure to do so would collapse the health care system they stressed.
