Hyderabad rains: Hyderabad experienced a dramatic shift from scorching heat to torrential downpours, as heavy rains lashed the city and several districts of Telangana. The much-anticipated monsoon arrival brought welcome relief from the prolonged heatwave but also triggered widespread disruption, impacting daily life.
The sudden downpour caused waterlogging in low-lying areas, resulting in traffic snarls and commuting chaos. Roads turned into temporary rivers, forcing vehicles to navigate through knee-deep water. Several areas reported power outages, adding to the residents’ woes. While two farmers lost their lives after being struck by lightning while working in their fields during a thunderstorm in Nagarkurnool, Telangana, rainwater has also reportedly entered some of the residence in Yakutpura constituency.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of continued heavy rainfall in Hyderabad and its neighboring districts over the coming days. The forecast includes thunderstorms and gusty winds, prompting authorities to issue advisories for residents to remain cautious.
According to reports, Alwal, Banjara Hills, Begumpet, ECIL Cross Roads, Habsiguda, Jubilee Hills, Kapra, Karkhana, Masab Tank, Paradise, Punjagutta, Sainikpuri, Tarnaka and Trimulgherry have received heavy rainfall on Thursday.
