Shimla: Himachal Pradesh CM Jai Ram Thakur has scheduled a visit to the state to take stock of the situation. He will visit the landslide site at Kinnaur on Thursday.
Sources reveal, the rescue operation was halted during the night and resumed today morning. The National Disaster Response Team ( NDRF), Indo-Tibetian Border Police (ITBP)and Central Industry Security forces(CISF) have been deployed to carry out excavations. So far 13 bodies have been recovered from the site, official report. CM Thakur informed that there has been no absolute count of the passengers stuck under the rubble.
Earlier on Wednesday, PM Modi announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to kin of those who died and Rs 50,000 for those injured in the tragedy in Kinnaur. “PM @narendramodi has announced an ex gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from PMNRF to the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to a landslide in Himachal Pradesh. Rs. 50,000 would be given to the injured,” tweeted the Prime Minister’s office.
A 30 seater Himachal Road Transport Corporation bus was one among the vehicles that came under the rubble, as the landslide hit the Reckong Peo-Shimla Highway on Wednesday afternoon.
