Nuh: After clashes occurred in Haryana’s Nuh district resulting in six deaths and significant property damage a campaign was initiated to address the issue of constructions and encroachments. However, the Punjab and Haryana High Court issued an order to halt the use of bulldozers due, to the controversy surrounding this initiative. Following the court ruling, Deputy Commissioner Dhirendra Khadgata instructed officials to suspend the demolition activity.
Criticism emerged regarding the demolition campaign, with politicians such as Hyderabad MP and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi alleging that it disproportionately affected Muslims. Many affected residents claimed they were not given notice before their homes were demolished.
The local administration defended its actions by stating that their intention was solely to tackle constructions and encroachments without targeting any individual or community. Deputy Commissioner Khadgata emphasized that restoring peace in the region was a priority for them.
Amidst controversy, a delegation from CPI attempted to enter the Nuh district. Was prevented from doing so by the district administration leading to further tensions. The confrontation between CPI leaders and police officers was recorded on camera with CPI MP Binoy Viswam criticizing the situation and expressing concerns about restrictions, on freedom of movement.
