Srinagar: Three army jawans who had been injured during an encounter with terrorists, tragically lost lives in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday. Before their unfortunate demise, they were undergoing treatment at a medical hospital. The incident took place in the village of Khudwani, and the soldiers belonged to the 19 Rashtriya Rifles.
The gunfight began after the army launched a search operation in the area following intelligence reports about the presence of militants. The militants opened fire on the soldiers, who retaliated. The exchange of fire lasted for several hours, and the three soldiers were killed in the fighting.
The bodies of the soldiers were later recovered, and they were identified as Havildar Sandeep Singh, Naik Parvinder Singh, and Sepoy Nihal Singh. They were all from Punjab.
The killings come a day ahead of the fourth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir. The anniversary is often marked by protests and violence in the region.
In response to the killings, the security forces have increased security in the area. A high alert has been issued in Kashmir, and additional troops have been deployed.
The killings have also been condemned by political leaders across the spectrum. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the sacrifices of the soldiers will not go in vain.
The Home Minister, Amit Shah, said that the government will not tolerate any such attacks on the security forces.
The killings are a reminder of the ongoing security challenges in Jammu and Kashmir. The region has been plagued by violence for decades, and the abrogation of Article 370 has not brought an end to the conflict.
The security forces are working hard to maintain peace in the region, but they continue to face the threat from militants. The killings of the three soldiers are a reminder of the dangers that the security forces face on a daily basis.
The government has pledged to bring the perpetrators of the killings to justice. The security forces are also working to prevent further attacks. The hope is that the peace and stability that the region has enjoyed in recent months can be maintained.
