New Delhi: The Jammu and Kashmir Police (J&K) had recently shot down a drone in the Kanachak area six kilometres inside the Indian border. An investigation has revealed the drone to be a Hexacopter. Jammu and Kashmir Police officials have reported recovering approximately 5kg of explosives from the unmanned aerial vehicle.
Hexacopter is a US-made IF 1000 ideal for geospatial, defence or custom applications.
On Wednesday, a suspected drone was spotted in the Satwari area. Earlier, on 16 July, the anti-drone radar installed by National Security Guard (NSG) captured a drone operating around the Jammu Air Base.
After the recent drone attack at the Jammu air base last month, the NSG has installed anti-drone systems across the city. Subsequently, the Air Force had also taken measures to prevent any such attack in Jammu and other important airbases across the country. It has also taken strict measures to address threats from small drones.
After the Jammu attack, the number of drone sightings has gone up drastically and there have been several instances where the Army and Border Security Forces (BSF) troops at the border have fired at them.
The Ministry of Civil Affairs on 15 July, constituted a draft for the Drone Rules 2021 to replace the unmanned Aircraft System Rules 2021.
