NEW DELHI: The Delhi police on Wednesday confirmed the hair and samples sent for ‘DNA Mitochondrial profiling’ belonged to Shraddha Walker- live-in partner of Aaftab who murdered her brutally months ago.

“The samples recovered from the Mehrauli forest were sent to the Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) Hyderabad as the DNA from them could be extracted. “On Wednesday, we received the result of the examination. One piece of bone and bunch of hair purported to be of the deceased have matched with that of her father and brother which establishes the identity of the bone and hair to be that of Shraddha Walker,” Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Sagar Preet Hooda.

Up next, the bones will be sent for an autopsy which will be conducted by a board of medical experts at AIIMS.

The spine-chilling details of the murder emerged in November after the victim’ father filed a complaint against Aaftab- claiming Sharddha was missing for months. Aaftab is charged for allegedly strangulating and dismembering the body of Shraddha Walker and dumping them across the Mehrauli forest earlier in May last year.
