New Delhi: A Varanasi district court on Wednesday transferred to a fast track court a petition seeking permission to worship the ‘Shivling’, which was reported to be found in the Gyanvapi mosque.

Another petition demanding that Lord Adi Vishveshwara be declared the exclusive owner of Gyanvapi and the structure be brought down has also been transferred to the fast track court. Both matters will be heard on May 30th.

Civil judge (senior division) Ravi Kumar Diwakar, who earlier heard the Kashi Vishwanath temple-Gyanvapi mosque case before it was transferred to district judge Ajay Kumar Vishwesh, will hear the matter. The Supreme Court earlier transferred the civil suit filed by four Hindu women in the matter from the civil judge to the district judge.
