New Delhi: The Varanasi court on Thursday resumed hearing in the Gyanvapi mosque case where SC mandated videography of the mosque revealed the demolition of Hindu structures. The Masjid committee argued that this suit by the Hindu party is utterly non-maintainable and should be rejected under Order 7 Rule 11 of the CPC.
The arguments could not be completed therefore the hearing has been shifted to Monday 2:00 pm, Adv Vishnu Jain, Hindu sides’ lawyer in Gyanvapi mosque. The Anjuman Intezamia Majid hearing committee said that it has not been proven the object found in the mosque was in fact a shivling- an Idol represented Hindu diety Shiva.
In the meanwhile, a letter seeking permission for legal reporters to listen to the hearing is to be placed before the district judge, sources said. The court today also barred the entry of media during the hearing.
On May 16th, a trial court had directed the administration to seal the area where the Shivling was claimed to have been found during a video survey. However, the mosque committee claimed it was a stone fountain in the ablution area of the masjid.
Five Hindu women have claimed that an image of the Hindu deity Shringar Gauri exists at the mosque based on the shots leaked by the private investigator and have sought permission to offer daily prayers there
