VARANASI: The next hearing for the plea seeking worship of the ‘Shivling’ found in the ablution space of the Gyanvapi mosque has been adjourned for November 14th. A fast track court on Tuesday pronounced the order.
At the hearing today, where the concerned judge was not available today, the court was supposed to deliver its verdict on the three main demands by the plaintiff which include the permission for the immediate beginning of prayer of Swayambhu Jyotirlinga Bhagwan Vishweshwar, the handing over of the entire Gyanvapi complex to the Hindus and banning entry of Muslims inside the mosque.
According to Assistant District government counsel Sulabh Prakash, the matter was posted for November 14 as the civil judge (senior division) of the court Mahendra Pandey is on leave. The court had on October 27 reserved its order on the suit for November 8. It was on May 25th, district court Judge A K Vishvesh ordered the transfer of the suit to a fast-track court.
On April 26th the civil judge senior division that was hearing a plea by a group of Hindu women who sought permission for daily worship of Hindu idols on the outer wall of the mosque had ordered a video graphic surevy on results of which the Hindu side claimed a “Shivling” was found during the exercise. However, the Muslim side has maintained the object as a part of the ‘wazookhana’ reservoir.
