GUJARAT: The voter turnout in the second phase of the Gujarat elections was recorded at 4.75 percent until 9 am. According to EC, during the one hour of voting which began at 8 am, Gandhinagar witnessed the highest percentage with 7.05 percent till 9 am, followed by Mahesana (5.44 pc). Ahmedabad saw a voting percentage of 4.20 percent.
PM Modi cast his vote at Nishan Public school, Ranip in Ahmedabad. Home minister Amit Shah and his family also cast their vote at AMC sub-zonal office in Naranpura. Both the leaders of the BJP arrived amid tight security to cast their votes. Interacting with the media after casting his vote, PM Modi said- Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena and his wife cast their votes PM Modi stated, “People celebrated the festival of democracy in Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, and Delhi with great enthusiasm and fervour. I thank the people of the country from the bottom of my heart for the festival of democracy. I thank the Election Commission from the bottom of my heart for conducting the polls in a magnificent manner ensuring that India’s prestige in the world increases. A good example of this was seen in this election.”
Former Gujarat CM and current UP Governor Anandiben Patel cast her vote for the Gujarat Assembly election. Speaking to the media thereafter, she observed, “Voting is our right. As many as 93 constituencies across 14 districts are undergoing polls today across the state. 833 candidates are in the fray with the tough competition between BJP, Congress, and AAP. The first phase of the elections was held on December 1st.
