NEW DELHI: As per the data released by the Finance Ministry on Monday, GST collection in India surged to an all-time high of over Rs 1.87 lakh crore. The collection this month was substantially higher than the previous record high was Rs 1.68 lakh crore, collected in April 2022.

“The revenues for April 2023 are 12 percent higher than the GST revenues in the same month last year,” the government’s Press Information Bureau said in a statement.

“The gross GST revenue collected in the month of April 2023 is Rs 1,87,035 crore of which CGST is Rs 38,440 crore, SGST is Rs 47,412 crore, IGST is Rs 89,158 crore (including Rs 34,972 crore collected on import of goods) and cess is Rs 12,025 crore (including Rs 901 crore collected on import of goods),” the statement further read.

Last month’s gross GST collection was more than the previous highest in April 2022 by ₹ 19,495 crore – or 12 percent higher than the GST collection year-on-year

The centre collected ₹ 68,228 crores on April 20 – the highest-ever single-day collection.”Great news for the Indian economy! Of the total, Central GST was Rs 38,440 crore, State GST was Rs 47,412 crore, Integrated GST was Rs 89,158 crore, and compensation cess was Rs 12,025 crore.
