Government of Jharkhand Sets the Ball Rolling to Bypass New Farm Laws

Ranchi: The government of Jharkhand sets the ball rolling to formulate laws that will bypass the Centre’s three new agriculture laws. The three states that have already passed bills in their assemblies negating the laws, are Chhattisgarh, Punjab, and Rajasthan.

The state agriculture minister of Jharkhand, Badal Patralekh, said that he has lately met the Chief Minister Soren in this regard. “I have suggested a few points to the chief minister and asked him to hold a meeting of all coalition partners in the government to discuss the matter” – said Patralekh.

He said that his suggestions to the Chief Minister focused on the continuation of the existing Agriculture Produce Market Committees (APMCs) and guaranteeing Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) of agricultural produces; that has also provisioned jail terms in case of violation.

The CM will soon hold a meeting with the coalition partners, which are the Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal.
