Gonda: Two youths got killed, while a woman was critically injured in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda when an automobile, which is said to be from the convoy of BJP candidate Karan Bhushan Singh, deliberately ran over them. This candidate is Karan Bhushan Singh and is related to the sitting MP of Kaiserganj Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and the former Wrestling Federation of India chairman. Nonetheless, there is no documented proof or evidence mentioning the presence of Karan Bhushan Singh or Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in the car during the attack.
Speaking to the media, the Kernalganj SHO Nirbhay Narayan Singh said the deceased, Rehan Khan (17), and his cousin Shehzad Khan (20), were riding a motorcycle when hit by a bicycle near a school. The injured woman is Sita Devi (60), and she has been admitted to the hospital. The police have increased patrols in the region to curb any disturbances.
The car involved in the above accident belongs to an education institution owned by Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and has the number plate UP32HW1800. The car’s driver, Lavkush Srivastava, has been apprehended; the police have yet to interrogate him further to learn the timeline of events.
Sources revealed that Karan Singh was travelling in a car entourage when the incident happened in Karnalganj today. While three vehicles managed to cross a railway crossing, the fourth vehicle, which later took part in the accident, stayed on the wrong side of the tracks as a train passed. The driver of the fourth vehicle reportedly followed the others and accelerated the car, thus hitting the motorcycle near a pavement beside a petrol pump.
Police are examining statements made by the arrivals indicating that the motorcyclist was trying to evade knocking down an old lady who was crossing the road. The woman who was part of the accident is said to have fainted after the incident.
