NEW DELHI: Tillu Tajpuriya main accused in the Rohini court shootout case in September 2021 was killed by rivals in an attack in Tihar jail on Monday morning. According to sources, Tajpuriya was attacked by Yogesh Tunda and others inside the jail.

“Today morning at around 7am, information was received from Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital regarding two undertrial prisoners who were brought to the hospital from Tihar Jail. One of them, Sunil alias Tillu was brought in an unconscious state. He was later declared brought dead. Another person, Rohit is undergoing treatment and is out of danger,” said additional DCP West district, Akshat Kaushal.

Preliminary investigation revealed Yogesh Tonda and his associates Deepak Titar, Rajesh Singh, and Riyaz Khan lodged in Jail No. 8 attacked Tillu lodged in ‘high risk ward’ using iron rods. The assailants reportedly used an improvised sua for the attack, police said.

” Yogesh alias Tunda and Deepak alias Teetar attacked Tillu Tajpuriya by breaking the iron grills of the ward which separated both gangs in the same ward,” the official added.

Maan, a resident of Delhi, formed the infamous Tillu gang and was allegedly involved in the 2021 shootout of gang leader Jitendra Gogi by two assailants inside a courtroom at Rohini Court complex. The Delhi Police had filed a chargesheet with Maan as the main accused who plotted the murder. Maan was also involved in multiple cases including murder, robbery, extortion and gang war.
